A Thickened Present is the interplay between painting and memory. In walking long distances, the past is being processed, while the future is being accessed. The act of repeating each step and building pace captures the present, a thickened present. An imagined moment of reality opens, a portal through which Kirkegaard described as a ‘continuous experience of unfolding nows’. I attempt to capture the felt moment, an imagined presence through my memory of a time out walking.
